Overview
PIMSY can be installed on any Windows computer with a WINDOWS or VISTA operating system. However, certain settings on a Windows device may occasionally prevent the application from downloading. Read below for possible solutions.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Up-to-date Framework
PIMSY requires a Windows component called the .NET Framework 4.7.2. This framework comes standard on all newer Windows computers but may need to be installed for older ones. To learn more, please refer to our PIMSY Workstation Requirements article.
Step 2: Trusted Sites
Browser: When installing PIMSY, please use either Microsoft Edge, Chrome, or Firefox.
Trusted Site: If PIMSY won't install, check this:
From your browser address bar, input the PIMSY install link address and hit Enter.
Google Chrome
Click the triple dots at the top right of the browser and select Settings from the options menu.
Next, from the left side menu click Privacy and Security, then Site Settings.
In Site settings, scroll down and click Additional content settings to expand it, then click Insecure content. Click Add to add the URL of the site you wish to add to the exception list.
Microsoft Edge
Search for Internet Options in the search bar of the task bar and open Internet Options.
Select the Security tab and then click Sites.
Enter your preferred sites here and then click Add to add them to the list.
Firefox
Click the three lines at the top right of the browser and select Settings.
Next, click Privacy & Security, then click Manage Exceptions...
Enter the URL of the applicable site in the Address of website area, click Add Exception, and then Save Changes.
Step 3: Proxy
Occasionally, people run into issues with their internet connection set up as a Proxy Connection. To check your proxy connection, go to:
Internet Options > Connections and click the LAN Settings button.
Be sure the Use Proxy Server for your LAN box is NOT checked. If it is checked, please uncheck, then click OK to exit.
Step 4: Virus Protection
Sometimes, antivirus software can prevent PIMSY from installing or running properly. If you’re unable to install or open PIMSY, check your antivirus settings.
To determine if this is the cause, temporarily disable your antivirus firewall and/or real-time protection, then try installing or launching PIMSY again. If PIMSY installs or runs successfully, add it to your antivirus whitelist (exceptions list) before re-enabling your protection.
This ensures PIMSY continues to function properly while keeping your computer secure.
Step 5: Default Settings in Windows
Another option is to restore the internet options advanced settings in Windows.
To do this, close your browser and go to:
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced, then click Restore Advanced Settings.
Click OK. After that, open the browser and try the download again.
Step 6: Corrupted Install
In rare cases, the PIMSY installation files may become corrupted. If this occurs, please contact your IT administrator for assistance in resolving the issue
