North Carolina Nurse Practioners without Codes

Here is an email from Mark.  He heads up the Auth department on one of our bigger clients.  He just received this email concerning NPs...

 

 I just got a copy of the January 2013 special bulleting put out by DMA. According to it, and the fee schedules they release, Nurse Practitioners and PA’s are not able to bill E/M codes independently. It says PA’s must do it ‘incident to’ a physician and the NP may only provide the therapy codes – which doesn’t include any 90862 equivalent.
